January can be a tough month for maintaining motivation but our junior runners have braved cold dark nights on Thursdays and ice and wind on Saturday mornings, enjoying a brilliant first month of the year. We have had an excellent turn out for every session, demonstrating great commitment from the kids. Well done everyone.
We welcomed new runner Ethan this month.
Throughout January we have had lots of fun along the prom doing interval work and relays. We admired the stars in our evening sessions and headed down onto the beach to play Bulldog on the steep sloping pebbles during our Saturday mornings.

We have done our warm up on the sand at low tide and pushed hard with hill repeats up Galley Hill.
The group has been particularly focusing their learning on pacing this month. We have practiced the various technique changes we make when we switch from jogging to sprinting.
The January cross country race was held at Black Cap near Lewes in lovely snowy conditions. It was a beautiful morning with a cloud inversion and four of our juniors took part. Well done to Eva, Freya, Ellie and Alex. Eva was the fastest girl in the race. There are two months of the cross season left if anyone else wants to have a go.
