Friday swim session – Battle Abbey Pool
Sessions start again 8pm Friday 5th September. I imagine you have all been swimming continuously over the last couple of weeks while the pool has been shut.?
In light of this the first 4 weeks will be a re- focus upon some technical elements. The long term objective is to try and secure a second lane to allow one lane to be technique focused and the other swim endurance focussed. That way you can move between lanes in blocks over the course of the off season i.e. 4 weeks skills 4 weeks endurance build , 2 weeks skills etc.
This will obviously be dependent upon numbers and the ability to promote the session – and for the swim club to free up a second lane. It will be demand driven I am afraid.
Cost remains at £3 to cover the lane hire
Saturday Run/Cycle Polegrove , Galley Hill or any other suitable venue
First run session will Sat 6th
Run will be as per newsletter (attached if needed). The links below show Craig Alexander (triple Hawaii Ironman champion) running , if you watch from 90sec into the second link you will get an idea of what we will be looking towards.
I accept none of us will run that smoothly but some of the basic principles will form part of the sessions i.e. body position , arm swing , foot landing position etc , the drills focus on elements of the run style and the core work and stretching will hopefully make us all a bit stronger and bandier. There will be a fair bit of running so fear not.
All you need to start with is a towel to sit/lay upon or a mat if you are so inclined in addition to your normal run gear.

First cycle will be Sun 14th (I am working on the Sussex Tour of Britain stage on 13th)
I will try and stay outside for as long as we can and make contact re the potential to make use of a squash court at the leisure centre for some turbo & brick training. Any cost is likely to be minimal ie £2-3 a head for the court hire, it will be free if we stay outside.
Open to ideas – what do you want to achieve over the off season? - particularly whether the bike session suits best first thing Saturday or Sunday ( or not all )
I will also keep pushing to highlight the swim and bike sessions and the cross training benefit they offer even if triathlon isn’t your bag
Hope to see some or all of you in the next few weeks
