Wednesday 1st August saw seven BRT Juniors turn out for this year's Herstmonceux Relays on a beautiful, warm evening. This very popular and friendly event, organised annually by Hailsham Harriers, saw runners in teams of four each cover a distance of 1.5 miles over a multi-terrain course against the stunning back drop of the Castle and moat.
The Juniors competed as equals not only against the four BRT Adult teams but other East Sussex clubs too. The Junior teams were made up of Boys: Ferdi Ibrahim, Hector Evett, Luca Hunter and Max Phipps; and Girls: Hope Sankey, Lucy Boreham and Ruby Phipps. Special mention must be made of Hope Sankey who ran both the first and the fourth leg of the relay after a last minute hitch meant the fourth girl was unable to attend.
Individual times were: Boys Ferdi 10.19; Hector 10.39; Luca 11.34; Max 10,39 with an overall time of 43.11. Girls Hope 10.39; Lucy 10.56; Ruby 11.11; Hope 10.27 with an overall time of 43.13.
