Nice low key Tri yesterday evening in Lydd thanks to Velocity Events, perfect conditions for racing, it was also Katy's first open water Tri which she enjoyed. A new course male record was set, not by BRT but Dan Marshman from BRT managed a 3rd place and got himself a nice bottle of Vino for his efforts. Great evening and effort by all BRT attendees. Next evening event June 20th.
Great running by all, well done everyone that took part.
Sunny Bank Holiday and the promise of cake half way round a cycle ride.... What's not to like? The first BRT Ladies cycle ride set off along the sea front towards the countryside. Naturally there was a lot of chatting but no maps or sat navs were used - Lorna had memorised the 38 mile route! We made our way to Arlington for a cuppa and cake before returning to Bexhill. A stunning ride with a fabulous group of mixed ability lady cyclists. Interested in joining us? Just ask - all abilities welcome - we will look after you - the aim is to have fun. We meet up mid week and weekends depending on availability! Preparations for my first triathlon was incredibly exciting. Sports was something I only ever did at school but now it’s a big part of my life. I loved every bit of my training. The day of my triathlon.., I started to get really nervous standing around the Pool. Eventually my turn came and I was off... remembering to keep a steady pace putting into place techniques I had been taught... I felt great!!! Didn’t seem long and I was out and running for my bike 🏃♂️🚴♀️ 😃 I did struggled slightly on the hills when cycling but powered on just thinking about getting to the finish 😄😄 I got a little tired at a couple of points on my run and had to walk a little - but even with that to my surprise I came first in my group and I was chuffed to bits!!! I did it!! and now looking forward to my next triathlon 😊 🏊🏼♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️ Mandi x Members of Bexhill Runners & Triathletes recently took part in the Hastings Runners 5 Mile Race, on a beautiful morning along Hastings promenade. A number of members ran their second race in a few days, including new members Sam Brown and Richard Paine. In very good running conditions many pb’s were achieved, first home for the club Dan Marshman 29.39(2nd in age), Martyn Reynolds 30.54, William Carey 32.04, Ben Muggeidge 35.08, Mike Stokes 36.39 (3rd in age), Sam Brown 40.24, Richard Paine 47.59, Michelle Sibson 50.18, Keith Wilson 50.18, Grant Docksey 1:00:30. The Carey Clan invited me into the BRT family for the day - poor Marie was cheering us all on, in the rain carrying most of our kit! Anyway - the actual running! Simon Carey and myself took to the trail first and flying past us early in the race was William Carey coming second place in the 10km - well done him! Mick Kirby and Will's girlfriend, Charlotte Ellis, also took part and were all ready to cheer us in by the time Simon and I made our way in! A fantastic, if slightly challenging race but a great effort by all! Also great to see Mick at the Wednesday session - clearly the running bug has set in again!
Members of Bexhill Runners & Triathletes recently took part in the Out of the Blue 5k and 10k race at Ashburnham, on a tough undulating trail course, all performed brilliantly with notable achievements from Alison Brooker completely her first ever 10k, Sam Brown improving last year’s 10k time by 10 minutes and Martyn Reynolds taking 2nd place in the 5k.
